The next meeting of the Columbus Chippers Woodcarving Club will be Tuesday,
February 19. Remember, meeting time is now 6:00 PM. Bring your normal show and
tell, carving projects, and ideas for this years programs.
At the
February meeting, Graham Webb will tell us about the "Fallen Feather Project".
The project was started to honor Ohio service members whose lives were lost in
Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn. Ohio carvers will
carve feathers modeled from the primary flight feathers of a Bald Eagle. Each
feather will have the name of a fallen service member and will have its quill
placed into a 50 caliber shell casing mounted on a sculpture. Graham will
provide more information, as well as patterns and blanks for those interested in
taking part in the project. The feathers will be carved from the wood of native
trees grown in Ohio.
Don't forget, informal carving sessions still take
place on the first Tuesday at 6:00 PM with the regular meetings on the third
Tuesday at 6:00 PM. Keep those tools sharp.
